Ebb and Flow Yoga

In yoga philosophy, there are five elements that make up the material world: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Each of these elements has its own qualities and characteristics, and can be used as a lens through which to explore our physical, mental, and emotional worlds.

Spring is most associated with the water element. The water element is a powerful force in nature, representing flow, adaptability, and emotional release. Water also represents fluidity, passion, creativity, emotions and sexuality. In yoga, we can tap into the qualities of water through a variety of practices and techniques.

One way to connect with the water element in yoga is through fluid, flowing movements that mimic the movements of water, helping to cultivate a sense of fluidity and ease in the body. By synchronizing our breath with our movements, we can tap into the rhythmic energy of water and create a sense of flow and continuity.

We will explore the water elements through a focus on the hips and pelvis. The hips are considered the "water center" of the body in some yoga traditions, and working with this area can help to release emotional tension and cultivate a sense of fluidity and adaptability.

By tapping into the qualities of water, we can find greater ease and freedom in our bodies and minds, and move through life with greater fluidity and grace.

Come flow.
